Laying the foundation: how port of entry began

Albany Park Theater Project and Third Rail Projects came together in August, 2018 to embark on Port of Entry, our second collaboration exploring new ways to engage audiences through experiential performances inspired by real-life stories. Over the course of seven days together in Chicago, 30 teen artists and a dozen adult artists conducted ethnography inside a half dozen Albany Park apartment buildings, devised immersive scenes inspired by our ethnographic work, stitched the scenes together into a loose structure, and shared our week’s work with four invited audiences. Click here for a day-by-day journal of this first week-long workshop that launched a new, multi-year collaboration.
